Grade School Association
Our mission as a Grade School Association (GSA) at St. Peter School is to provide support to our educators and encourage the connection between the families and our school. The GSA also sponsors and organizes school events, which deepen our community spirit and enrich our children’s social and developmental experiences at St. Peter School.
What do we do?
GSA not only has a volunteer network that supports Head Room Parents and Room helpers, Scholastic Book Fair, Kindergarten Round-Up and lunch room volunteers, but also sponsors and organizes many events year round to support our students and staff at St. Peter School.
Our events include 3 lunches for faculty and staff throughout the year, a Welcome Back BBQ for all school families, Wine & Cheese Night for Kindergarten and any new families to St. Peter, the Father/Daughter dance, Pancake & Sausage breakfast, and the School Picnic to end the year.
For the 2016-2017 school year, we will meet one Thursday a month from 10 am – 11 am in the conference room. Meeting dates are TBD. Anyone is welcome to attend the meeting!

GSA’s Year in Review
Taking Care of Business Day– We collect parent volunteer sheets and organize them so we know who to contact for help during the school year. This includes selecting Room Parents, assigning volunteer lunch room duties, and much more. This sheet also gives us an idea who can help with donating items for our teacher lunches that we provide throughout the year and classroom party supplies.
Back to School Teacher Lunch- GSA members plan, set up, work, and clean up at the teacher luncheon provided before school starts.
Welcome Back to School BBQ after Mass– We work together with parishioners to provide a Back to School BBQ after the kickoff mass before school starts.
Wine & Cheese Night– GSA plans this evening for all Kindergarten parents and new families to St. Peter. Our goal is to answer any questions new families may have regarding school policies and procedures. We also help new families to the area with finding amenities in Quincy they may need or have questions about. Some experienced school parents are present to help make our new families feel welcome.
Fall Scholastic Book Fair– GSA supports this event with volunteers to work, including the chairperson.
Parent/Teacher Conference Fiesta Luncheon– GSA plans this lunch for the ½ day of school before the teachers have conferences.
Father/Daughter Dance– GSA provides a chair person, volunteers, and supplies to host a a dance for girls and their dads in early December.
Pancake Breakfast– GSA sponsors this event to kickoff Catholic Schools week. We bring “Chris Cakes” in from St. Louis to provide breakfast and entertainment during this fun event. The chairperson is on the GSA board and we support this event with volunteers.
Catholic Schools Week– We support the ice cream social and supply popcorn and water for our movie day during Catholic Schools Week.
Kindergarten Easter Egg Hunt– GSA supplies the candy for the 8th grade parents and students to host and egg hunt for all kindergarteners.
Open House- GSA provides cookies for our spring open house
Kindergarten Round Up– GSA helps support this event by getting volunteers.
Teacher Appreciation Week– GSA provides something special for the teachers this year, including a teacher luncheon where all staff can eat lunch at the same time. Recess and lunch duties are covered by volunteers.
End of the year School Picnic- GSA provides a chairperson to organize and plan the end of the year school picnic. We provide supplies, food and volunteers for this event.
